For years it was traditional for a bride to have bridal portraits done of just herself prior to the big day so that a portrait was available to be displayed at the wedding reception. While this tradition has gone primarily by the wayside, it is still popular in some regions and cultures.

A modern take on the traditional bridal portrait has many benefits. Not only can a professional portrait be used in the traditional manner (displayed at the event and/or used as the wedding announcement in Sunday's paper, before any wedding photos are available), but a separate session on a separate day from the wedding makes for a relaxed, stress-free environment. This setup also allows more time for the portraits providing the opportunity for more artistic poses in locations that may not be available to you on your wedding day.
